Full Version: Where's the best place to get an M625?

Well, as of today I have an engineering degree! I just graduated from Biomedical Engineering in London, and it's been a long haul!

Anyway, my parents offered me as a present - and they appreciate my pen collection, so suggested a pen and gave me a budget. Now, I have always wanted a Pelikan, but haven't been able to afford one before. I showed my mum the Piccadilly Circus SE, and she asked "Do they do one in silver"? The Piccadilly appeals since I'm a Londoner, but my mum wants something very special for my degree.

Now, the M625 would be a great pen to own - but the prices change dramatically from site to site. In the UK, I've found them for a lot of money - £375 ($750). That's far too much, so I'm hoping to get one from a USA site - but where's the best place to get one? I'd appreciate any pointers.

Also, is there anything I need to worry about? I have heard that Pelikan's QC can be rocky...

First and foremost, congratulations on the graduation vermiculus! I'm still waiting for the day that I can announce my graduation, seems a bit away yet since I'm studying part time rolleyes.gif

I'd recommend getting the M625 from Pam Braun if she has it in stock, or it wouldn't hurt at least to ask her. She probably has the best prices all round and dealing with her is a pleasure. I've had very easy transactions with her before.

If you're concerned about QC, then try either John Mottishaw (nibs.com) or Richard Binder who both stock these pens and will actually test and adjust them prior to sending out.

M625 is a wonderful pen, absolutely gorgeous. If you are interested in pens in that vein, DeScribe has the discontinued and fast becoming rarer M650 up on the Marketplace for a superb price, although I don't know if he has any left in stock since they were snapped up almost immediately.

i just got one of those lovely M650s from describe (yet to be delivered, of course) for a great price. i think he may have more of them. he's based in singapore. (most of these discontinued M650s seem to turn up there.)

Congrats on the degree! What better time to get a nice pen.

The cheapest I found is from pengallery for $447 in Malaysia. Everywhere else is just below $500 such as swishers, richards, nibs.com, worldlux.

I think you would have problems going with Pam Braun since she only accepts checks or money order.

Thanks for the pointers. I've emailed Pam Braun, and am shopping around a bit.

Also, the 650 looks pretty cool, but I think I prefer silver to gold - I always have done. Still, I'm considering it from DeScribe.

Does anyone have a 625 and want to step in to encourage or discourage my descision?

Congrats on your degree!

Regina Martini has the M630 (silver cap with gold clip and trim rings) on her auction site. This pen is no longer made but it is a very attractive pen in my opinion. I'm not sure that Pam Braun ships overseas, but she is known for her excellent service and low prices. If she doesn't ship overseas, check out <martiniauctions.com> . I have purchased from Regina through her auction site and she is also great to deal with and she is on your side of the pond (Germany).

Happy hunting.

Greg~

I've purchased pens from Pam Braun (most recent purchase arrived on Monday) and just to clear things up:
1) She takes Paypal
2) She does ship overseas

I bought my 625 from Pam Braun and had it shipped to the UK. I've had it a while and I believe it cost me $330 plus shipping. It may be a bit more expensive now.

Oh dear - I'm having a lot of trouble deciding! I just found the M750 Jubilee and I think it's exactly what I was looking for...

...at least, that's what I think *today*. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

So many pens, so little time...

I have one, as I have several M600's, M800's and a M1000. I love the M625 because the weight is perfect in relation to its size. The regular M600's are very nice but I prefer the M625, also because it is beautiful! thumbup.gif

Pam Braun confirmed $400 plus $30 shipping to UK to me last week for M625 Blue.

She only takes Paypal from overseas buyers.
