Hi,
Just joined and pretty new to the whole pen thing really. I have a few nice pens (MB and ST Dupont) but have recently acquired a Mclaren 900 rollerball.
Know nothing about these pens and can't get very far on the net. I know air international sells them but thats about it.
Does anyone know much about them - price in particular. I love this pen and hope to get some of itss cousins at some point.

Cheers,
Degars1

Welcome to FPN thumbup.gif .

McLaren pens is no longer in business. What pens are out there are effectively NOS. The whole outfit LS&B was put up for sale about 5-years ago if I remember correctly. I even considered buying the tooling!

Yes, they gave/lent/licensed the brand. The pens had carbon fibre bits that gave a nebulous tie-in with F1 cars.

Thanks for the info Martin,

What does NOS stand for?
Also, do you know what refil make will fit the rollerball?
Are these pens worth much on the open market these days since they went out of business and how does does this price compare to when they were new?

Cheers,
Degars1

I would imagine they take an ISO standard rollerball refill such as those made by Schmidt. Pop along to WHSmith and see what they have. If going for a branded refill then Faber Castell, Rotring, Yard-O-Led and possibly Caran d'Ache should fit.

Sorry, no idea. I know they were expensive when new. But like any item, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay...

I've been looking for Mclarens for years. I got an 850 rollerball back in '99 and it's my favorite pen. I saw a fountain pen at the LA Pen show a few years later, but didn't pick it up.

A Schmidt 8126 is the refill for the rollerballs. (just checked mine)

Oh, and I got mine from Airline International, but they don't have them anymore. If anyone knows of anyone who still sells these, please tell me!! smile.gif

Hello and welcome to FPN. Kick off your shoes and have a stroll around the grounds. There is lots of good information as well as people willing to share information. Heck you might even pick up a pen or two at the Marketplace.

Once again welcome.
