I have a Signum Ornamenta. There is a rattling sound when I use the pen, and it sounds like something is loose internally. When I close the end cap, the cap doesnt seal tight with the end barrel. I wonder if this is normal.

I have also email the Signum representative in the States on this issue.

thanks,

Actually, the sound is there because the piston cap isn't exactly locked to the end barrel, even when in closed position.

I have the same problem with the Ornamenta. If you turn the piston knob a bit tighter the noise should lessen. The nib is wonderful but I don't think much thought went into the practical design. Have you noticed how unbalanced the pen is when posted? Again for me a shame because the color and the name are great.

I meant color and the nib!!

I was told that the loose piston cap is normal for Italian pens and nothing to worry about. I agree that the nib is wonderful. Since I never post the cap I don't find the pen out of balance. happyberet.gif

Thanks for the confirmation. Actually, when posted, the sound goes away, as the piston end is pressed.

The representative for Signum has emailed me and told me this is typical of an Ornamenta.
"I think that it may be the piston filling system’s turning knob that you are referring to and if so, it is designed not to lock in any one position so as to avoid putting stress on it."

Again, thanks to Eytim and vanyieck. I will be selling the pen on the marketplace later, I do not post my pen, and hence the sound will be there.
