Looking for advice on Stipula Italic nibs. I have an Etruria with fine nib which I like very much..but I'm thinking of adding an italic nib. Are they practical for everyday use? Are they appropriate for cursive writing? I am a little concerned that a square nib might be scratchy at the wrong angle (although I think Stipula nibs are slightly rounded at the edges to avoid this). Also, is the 0.9 nib like a fine, and the 1.1 like a medium? I'd want the one that is the smoothest..so I am leaning towards the 1.1 size. My fine nib is a great writer, but just a bit "toothy"..
Thanks for your help.

It's a cursive italic, so it's not a square-edged crisp italic. I use my 0.9 every day.
The 0.9 is like a medium; the 1.1 is more like a broad.

Thanks, Dierdre...
looks like the 0.9 is popular on this forum..

I had what I thought was the .9, and it was too wide for my scrawl, and really wet. I have small writing (seldom leaving the lines of college rule paper), so keep that in mind. However, that was one of the smoothest CI nibs I've used, and I have a few.
If I could get a Stipula factory .7 CI I'd be on that like a junkyard dog on a fencehopper.

Yeah, a 0.7 would be sweet.

I have a Stipula titanium 0.9 italic nib and it definitely writes a medium line. Wet and slightly flexible, it's a dream to write with.

I think they write more like stubs than cursive italics (although I think Richard B's CIs, of which I have 2, are a bit 'sharper' than most. More like my Waterman Exception stub
They are
very smooth, with some line-width variation....I will see if I can find a scan....

The titanium nibs are narrower than the gold equivalents (in my experience). In particular, I have a Ti M nib that writes like an F. I love it!

I'm seriously contemplating having my Etruria italicized. It is buttery now and writes well but i love italic nibs.
I have one Omas Milord and a CS Duro in italic. Great writers.
I just hate sending one of my children away

It was hard enough sending my Arco away to Italy!

Greg Minuskin does a freat job and his turnaround time is only about two weeks. He has reground 6-7 pens of mine. I haven't got the first pens I sent to Deb Kinney back yet, but she gave me a turn around time of three weeks. So they're not away from home long unless you send them to Binder or Mottishaw.

Thanks, I thought there was something with the .09 I purchased.
