Full Version: Esterbrook J (possible) leak around the section join

Over the weekend I flushed out a couple of Esterbrooks and refilled them with different ink. My blue J and red SJ seem to be leaking ink from around the section join, and it's getting in the cap threads. I've carefully wiped the pens clean, only to find more ink there just a little while later. Is this a sign that the sacs need replacing -- I think both pens still have their original sacs -- or is there something else to try?

Thanks for any guidance you can give.

The green SJ is just fine, thankfully, and putting out a nice flexy line of tea dregs.

If the leak is between the section and the barrel, it's time for new sacs. If the leak is between the section and the nib/feed, there are a number of possible causes, but my first suspects would be a loose feed or a crack in the section.

Let us know how it works out....
