Full Version: What model OMAS?

Hi all,

I just bought a vintage OMAS. It is black with gold trim, looks like a 555, piston fill but with no ink window. Greek key cap ring, no trim rings anywhere. It has no serial number imprint, but says "OMAS Extra" on the barrel with the stylised "S". The nib is lovely, fine and flexible. BUT I don't know what model it is. Closed it is 133 mm (5 1/4 inch), open it is 11.9 mm (4 5/8 inches). Barrel diameter is 11mm (Roughly 7/16 inch).

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,

Ralf

Sounds like a 620. Check this review and see if the pen looks similar:

Aha! That looks like the very thing! Though mine doesn't say "Italy" on the imprint.

Anyway, thanks very much Jim. I'm very happy with my wee pen!

Handlebar, I have an Omas like the one in your review with 2 differences: mine is black resin and the nib is 14k. I bought it new (NOS) in a well reputed local seller.

Do you have any idea which is the model I have? Mine has the *very same* dimensions than my 2 Omas MoMAs.

And since we're at it, would it be possible to have your pen serviced by Omas and swap the steel nib for a gold one? I've noticed that some italian pens can be found here in Andalucía are offered with a steel or gold nibs (many models by Delta for example), but in internet I can only found the gold nib version. I'm telling you this because Omas might use an in-house gold nib in the swap.

Hi Juan,

Is it faceted?Or smooth barreled? If faceted it could be a Milord Extra or Gentlemans series. If smooth round usually the Extra or 555/620.If you could shoot a photo and post it the chances are FPN Omas fans will tell you straight away.I can consult my Omas book if need be.

It's mooth barreled. The body has engraved "Omas Extra Made in Italy". Greek band on the cap (no band on the section), and a 2 tone gold nib marked "585" (14K). My guess it's a mid to late 80s.

I don't have a digital camera yet, but I'll try to ask someone to take some pics to show here.

Omas Ogiva? I've got one from the 90's... it looks pretty like your description.

That's my guess; does yours have the same engraving on the body?
