Hi everyone. I'm kind of bored tonight, so I thought I'd post a handwriting sample for your perusal.

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

I can never remember how that sentence is supposed to go. Oh well.

Anyway that's it. Comments and advice are more than welcome.

...

thanks for looking!

It's very wide, neat and legible. I'd like to be able to write like that smile.gif

The sentence is:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

It uses every letter in the alphabet. count it and check it smile.gif

Nice legible, and quite even, cursive, of a good size....as someone said elsewhere, not so common these days.

My only slight criticism is that the constraint of writing on lines seems to force your descenders to get mixed-up with the line below....I'd suggest experimenting with:

1. writing on unlined paper (if you can do it, it looks, IMO, much more elegant....IME, it just takes a bit of practice for someone whose writing is otherwise as well-controlled as yours),
2. if you can't, either use wider lines(possibly difficult), or
3. get narrower lines and write on alternate ones!

I like the ink, too smile.gif

I very much second Rogers' comments - including the note about the ink you used.

Nice, legible handwriting. Shows up well with that pen and ink combination. Where do you want to go with your handwriting? Do you want to improve your existing hand? Or learn a new hand, such as Italic? Maybe study lettering or calligraphy.

That's the thing I like about FPN. The sky is the limit and everyone can do what they wish.

Luck,
Randal

PS: Don't show me such beautiful inks -- now I HAVE to buy the Private Reserve Black Cherry.

Um, I'd say both? I always want to improve my existing hand. I self-taught the cursive I have now, so after learning the initial letter forms, I've assimilated a lot of separate looks into my writing. It changes periodically as I see things that I like in other alphabets. For instance, there was a long period where every lowercase "a" I wrote looked like a Greek alpha. ...Eventually I realized that was a little ugly. The point is, even if this is the final form my handwriting is going to take, I'd love to improve its consistency in spacing/formation.

I'm also interested in learning other alphabets. Quite apart from the obvious assimilation opportunities, it's always fun to be able to do things in a new way.

*EDIT to add: Yeah, you have to get Black Cherry. It's amazing.*

Check out the resources here for a start. Maybe a good second step would be to Google a bit and view some of the materials available online. Eventually, pick a few good books (see the list under Penmanship) and practice, practice, practice. I use my fountain pens daily and still have a long way to go to get my handwriting looking good. But, it's the journey, not the destination, that counts.

Very nice example. Black Cherry is one of my most favorite inks.

I like both the handwriting and the ink color!
