Hi
I'm male, 50, living in Exeter in the UK.
I have been interested in pens [specifically fountain] all my life, an interest that continues today [obviously!].
I am fortunate to have been able to acquire a number of pens over the years, and rather surprisingly find that the "cheaper" pens often write better [for me, at any rate] than their more expensive cousins. My writing tends to be on the small side, so I favour fine or extra fine nibs. Waterman ink was a favourite, recently supplanted by Noodlers Bulletproof [obtained via the excellent "Writing Desk" website in the UK].
As a book-keeper I spend all day using a computer, so it is a joy when I get the opportunity occasionally to use my pens at work [albeit usually for writing out the cheques - Noodlers is reassuringly tamper resistant for that].
I am delighted to have found this website and look forward to learning a lot more about pens, how they function, what attributes make for a good paper/ink combination, and so forth.

Welcome to FPN, Headhunter! Which pens have been your favourites so far?

Hello Nellie and Wolverine1
Thanks for the kind welcome!
My favourite pens so far have been:-
Pelikan M300 - because it is comfortable as a small scribbler - everyday use in diary etc. Small and discreet to use. Nice too that the cap screws on rather than clipping on. Ink capacity is not massive, and cartridges are not an option.
Waterman Laureat - writes so smoothly
That could change - I find I use different pens as the mood takes me; one week I will favour a larger pen, the next I will prefer to use something small. Elsewhere on this site I have seen discussions about having only one pen - that would be a very difficult decision to make? Perhaps in owning different pens I am actually searching for the Holy Grail - the perfect all use pen?!

Hi there Head and welcome to the game!

Your 140 is a good starter, bcause I would have suggested an M200 or M2155 next. Lots of luck!! Here, you'll get it, but your wallet won't.

Best wishes,

Hi Mike

I meant to write Pelikan M300 [not 150 - pen was a gift from my Brother and I got the model number wrong - now edited] - it's the really pocket sized model in their range.

Kind regards

Steve

Hi Steve!

I too made a typo as usual. I don't have an M2155 (which I think doesn't exist) but an M 215. An M200 or 250 is great too for a starter.
As for pockets -- especially those of my T-shirts, where I always carry a FP -- I'm next looking at an M320. That's the smallest Pelikan (I think).

Try that on for size! Also one really nice colour finish!!
