I just got my Parker 45 I won from ebay, but it appears this is a cartridge/converter kind. Does the Parker 45 take converters at all or only cartridges? What kind of cartridge does it take? Or what kind of converter do I have to get? Thanks!

Yes it does take modern Parker cart and converters.
But if it is a UK/England one, you might have to use the one in the bottom which is no longer made since the nipple is slightly longer that the current modern convertes.

Mines say it is made in USA. I guess the $10 deal isn't a deal after having to go buy a converter. Oops. Thanks for your help smile.gif

I'm just wondering, are any Parker 45 available with an all silver-colored cap? I checked ebay and all seem to be silver caps with gold trim.

And is there a website to order a completely brand new Parker 45 made in England? I assume the style England and the US has is different?

It takes Parker cartridges or a slide converter.

Here is one place to get a converter:

People have already told you where you can get converters (and they don't need to be expensive), but on a historical note, I'm told that the Parker 45 was the pen that introduced the idea of using cartridges or converters. There'd been cartridge pens before that (one in the 19th c., IIRC), but the converter was new.

Have fun with it

My 75 uses that same latter converter (made in France though), so I assume you'll have to stick with it as well.

Hi,

From my experience, the Parker 45 takes every single kind of Parker converter made to date. I hae a Pre-1980 Parker 45 (US) and two UK parker 45s.

Hi Betty,

If you want I can snail mail you a convertor for your 45. I have one spare.

e-mail me your address if you want and I'll send out of the kindness of my heart.

Warmest regards

Gary
