Does anyone know with the production of the Pelikan M200s when the one, and the two strips on the pen cap appeared. I have two with the double strip (one narrow, then black, then wider band) and bought these somewhere between 1989-1991.

Mine looks like this one here.

Many thanks.

To my knowledge, the 1.5 bands ("2 stripes") became one band at the same time the other changes to the design occurred (end caps "flattened", engraving changed to screening) - 1997. Funny - I've always heard it described as "pre-97" or "post-97" which begs the question, did the changes actually occur *in* 1997? Rick? Mark?

Thanks KCat.

Viewing all the recent examples of the traditional M200 threw me off, and had me wondering if my two Pelikan's were some other bird. I am relieved to hear that these two (grey and blue) fit into the family, just a little earlier than the newer cap strips.

Yup, they fit. I think the gray (I have one also) was also phased out at that time. At least in the US. I prefer the older styling myself - more reminiscent of vintage looks.

This iks the old M200. They had been grey, blue and green or all black or all burgundy.
Have no idea when exactly theychanged to the new M200. I have bought my blue and black 200s about 20 years ago ....

That answers one of my queries, I was beginning to think I had the only twin banded m & K 200s in the world. I bought mine as new old stock last year and have just lost the K200. Looking unlikely that I can get a replacement with 2 bands. sad.gif

Do a thorough search on google. I found a few of the old striped m200s for sale (especially in Germany).

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I have googled until my fingers bled. I can find old(er) M and K 200s, ie with single band and current single band ones, but ond and a half bands are rare (a few black M200s). The K200 in burgundy seems to be particularly rare, I may buy the old, single band one on martini, or I may sell my M200 and buy a new pair. Of course if I do that, I will drift off into spending more money on an M400NN and matching ballpoint (tortoise of course). Aaargh, must check my house insurance.
