Kelly, it is more of a dark grey with wisps of black. It actually contrasts nicely with the "cherry" part. I too debated on whether to get the Honey Bee or Black Cherry and wished it didn't have the split patterns, but now that I got the Black Cherry version, I really like it. I don't regret getting this pen at all.

I'm still torn but am REALLY starting to appreciate the black cherry now after seeing these pictures and hearing about the gray/black color; that was always so hard to see clearly on web photos. Plus, I don't have any pens with a red tone and this would look great among everythng. I actually wrote Taccia to see if they were considering more colors in the Andante line and because it's so new, there's nothing on the books until they see what is selling and what isn't.
