Hi

Firstly, I am totally new to CS pens.
I have just bought a 472, with a 85 on its way.

I checked ou Jonathan Delahaye(?)'s site, but the CS 472 in the book of numbers is somewhat different from mine.
Firstly (may not be anything) my pen is blue/gray/black marbled.
Secondly not a flat top. The same kind of screw-on (?) black piece above the clip, but it is pointy.
The body has the same shape, and the piece holding the nib is also black as per the book of numbers.

Do I have a rarity?
How old is it?

Further I am in need of a new nib for it, the original being bent and broken. Preferably in fine.
Probably a new sac.
The filling lever is bent, how can I repair that?

Where can I go for parts/advice/info? Any other sites than Jonathan's?

Want pics?

Thanks in advance

Mike

There are quite a few sites where you might find examples of your pen, Mike.

Try conwaystewartpens.co.uk csvpens.co.uk http://www.rickconner.net/penspotters/conway.old.html

Its also worth looking at the early posts in this forum when Maxpen posted some very useful and interesting information.

On Jonathan's site he mentions that the later model 472s are pretty well identical to the 475 model which has the pointy top to the cap etc. You'll find that the cap top and the section (which holds the nib/feed) and the feed are all made of hard rubber and may be beginning to go brown. Nothing you can do to stop this. Also the body and cap may be of casein which will be quickly and completely ruined if soaked in water.

If you can find someone to sell you a lever, let me know as I need a couple! You might be able to gently persuade the lever straight again.

Sounds like your pen might be better used as a doner than a project, nibs are often more expensive than the pens. The first of those links sells nibs, you might find something of use.

Let us know how you get on, the 472 doesn't seem to crop up very often.

Pretty much the exact pen here, but mine is definitely marked 472.

I was able to bend the lever back. Although not perfect, with a new sac it will definitely function

The nib needs replacement. Which CS nib will be the correct one?

Clip, cap and barrel is in generally good condition.

Sac and nib! Can't wait to start using it!

Its a great looking pen, something elegant about bandless caps.

Jonathan gives the 475 as having a CS2 or CS3, the 479 as having CS1 or CS2 nibs. Looks like a CS2 would be safe!

Try here: http://www.conwaystewartpens.co.uk/Nibs.asp?pg=1

and on the other pages.

You can get a sac from Ian Williamson at Cathedral Pens: http://www.cathedralpens.co.uk/index.php?m...1514f529f9f5578

Nearly there!
