And if so, can you offer any design intricacies that I need to be aware of? I'm toying with undertaking what could be a very cool project, but I need to strip all the sterling silver fittings from the pen. Anyone know how that might be done?

I recently had to send a NOS Cosmopolitan back to Montegrappa, as the sterling silver sleeve came loose on the barrel. My guess is that had I been able to unscrew the section or the piston filling knob the sleeve would have slid right off. I've swapped plenty of Montegrappa nibs around, too. They're pretty simple friction fit numbers. Not sure if any of that information is helpful...

Thanks Vicary...any idea how the sleeve was attached?

nib and feed usually just pull out, friction fitted, but I assume you already know as much...

I'm going to guess it was glued, and the glue gave out, which is why it started to move. It didn't spin freely, but with a touch of effort you could rotate it the whole way around...
