Thanks for the review Penguin smile.gif

There is one thing that puzzle me though unsure.gif I am not sure we have the same definition for shading... Even in your low-res scan I see plenty of shading, this is an ink that I frequently use and it shades with most pens, whenever I try a pen it is always with this one and shading is almost always there except with very wet fine nibs...

Excellent review Michelle. I like the standardized format, and the feathering/bleedthrough comparison with three papers. Very objective analysis.

Just so you know it was Michele who did the review. This was part of 18 reviews she sent me to scan in and I unfortunately only got to two today. As for the definition of shading, I'm not sure what her definition is. As for me looking at the paper I would say there is slight shading.

By the way rereading myself I realised I might have sounded "wrong" I didn't meant it as an attack in any way but I was confused since like you I was seeing some shading smile.gif

Thanks...great review....I LOVE this ink...but because of fading...I LOVE Visconti Blue more.

If I had to spend life with only Waterman FB...that would be fine....but Visconti is #1.

Thanks,
Peter

Nice review of the Waterman Florida Blue my favourite blue ink for my fp. But I would like to try Noodler's Ottoman Azure as it turns out nice in my monitor screen res.

No worries. I have been on travel and catching up. Hmm looking at the scan it does look like there is a little shading doesn't it? I can't detect subtle shading much and typically the Diamine's are the ones I notice shading on the most with a few PR's like Habanero so maybe it needs to be in my face before I notice it.

I need to work on my handwriting that's for sure, but after 18 reviews it went downhill fast!

I am waiting for Charlie to chime in too since this is his "to die for" ink of all inks!

My Waterman Florida Blue is darker than yours! smile.gif

Good review.

I have recently switched from Florida Blue to Noodlers Baystate Blue and to be honest I am not sure that I have done the right, or write, thing.

Florida Blue is great ink and its only when trying the others I began to realise this.

May try that Visconti blue that many rave about.

Funny, I was going to write just the same. Mine is quite darker then the one shown (the scan, maybe?). And yes, if it was only one ink to live with, that would be W Florida Blue. I also have realized this when I have tried many others. Visconti Blue is awesome, but FB is the closest to perfection I know.

I just got a bottle of Baystate Blue as well and although it is beautiful, it seems more difficult to work with--anywhere it may land accidentally, it's going to stay until you put some effort into removing it. (One of these places being my fingers--is my experience unusual or does Noodler's ship their bottles so full to the brim that a little spillage is almost inevitable?) I also really like Waterman Florida Blue and it may be a better overall ink.

I am not as deeply involved in the technicalities of ink as some of you sem to be, though I should probably start getting more involved, to justify the large number of ink bottles taking over my desk! tongue.gif

Florida blue was my standard ink for years (before i found this forum and well...we all know what happens when you get here biggrin.gif ) and i loved it. Nowadays its a bit of too purple for my taste but i still use it every now and then. It's a very reliable ink, maybe even one of the best inks i have.

It's a great ink. Flows beautifully in any pen you fill it with and it's very friendly to vintage pens.

This ink works well in any pen as does Aurora blue.
