Came across this piece of 149 from ebay. Any fellow forumers could enlighten me on the possible year of production? Am quite drawn to the fact that it has a squared (rather than rounded) cap. Thanks happyberet.gif

Could it be an L139 instead? Hmm..

Cap is from the 139, nib maybe also, barrel is from the 149. So we have a wonderfully mixed pen.

Even if your find is a Frankenpen, I think it is unique and lovely. Thanks for sharing.

I can't see the triple rings in the cap clearly. One broad gold and two thin silver rings. Looks also like the pen nib is single colour as well. Might be my monitor that is fooling my eyes : is this truely a 149 barrel with a 139 cap or could it perhaps be a 146 with a 136 cap (do they fit ?)

I am home now and in my home monitor I can see the three rings now. The nib however stays monotome coloured to me. Whatever it is, if it fits it is a nice marriage.

That's exactly one of my doubts as well. A monotone 149 nib..does it really exist? Or is it a true rarity? On the other hand, I have seen plenty of monotoned 146 nibs.

The monotone 149 nibs were available in 14c and were only available on the german marketed MB 149s in the mid 80's and they are indeed rare.

If it is so "rare" I will just polish off the white metal plating on the nib. wink.gif
