I was at Selfridge's on Oxford Street yesterday searching for some nice paper that would stand up with calligraphic writing. A very patient shop assistant there led me to Basildon Bond shelf and I bought a pad to try it out.

I was very nicely surprised, because it doesn't bleed or feather even with those crazy amounts of ink the calligraphy pen puts on paper, so I'm planning to buy couple more pads.

Anyone has an experience with this paper? Is it really all that nice as it looks?

Yeah, Squelch B. I think you will enjoy the Basildon Bond. It's a great all-around writing paper and impressive enough to be used for formal calligraphy, easy enough to write on to be used for quick letters and notes.

Yeah, and it seems pretty common. Even some stationery here in Harrow has it, although only in white.

The only drawback is a high price. I paid 2.75 GBP for a 40-sheet pad in a format something smaller that A5. Although it was on Oxford Street, you know.

Any suggestions on where I can buy this in the US, or alternately, buy on line with shipment to the US?

I remember writing 'thank you' notes on this paper as a kid, but I am shocked at the price.

Ryman in the UK sell it and it looks like they ship abroad. Although it does not specify a shipping price on their site, it does say that shipments abroad will be charged at cost. I expect they could give you some idea of the shipping cost if you email them.
