I did a search here for Optik paper, but didn't pick up anything.

So...
Has anyone heard of Oxford's paper they call "Optik"? I find a lot of Oxford paper very poor for FP use, but their Optik brand seems to be just as good as the equivalent Clairefontaine, and half the expense.

these are the notebooks I've been using lately - very satisfactory indeed. I bought these many years ago for course notes, but didn't use all of them, and I just unearthed the last two. I've been very impressed.

The paper is 90gsm and each of these particular books has 90 sheets - at 3p per sheet, it's a big saving on my local Clairefontaine outlets.

Edit: For some examples, check out the ink reviews I just did of Waterman's Havana and Parker Penman Sapphire.

I found I had been using these for office notes/meetings for the last couple of years - indeed, they are excellent paper. Mine were A5 sixe.

I use these exclusively for my notetaking at work (government), A5 spiralbound. Just like you I find them just as great for FP as both Clairefontaine and Rhodia. I have been trying to track them down on the internet, which has been something of a detective's task. It seems they come from the same company that produces Black 'n' Red (or is it the other way around), in fact I think it's exactly the same product, just different cover design.

Someone at last discovered this thread! I'm almost out of Optik actually, so I'll need to refresh my stock at some point. I wonder if it's even better than Clairefontaine, in fact...

Re: Black n Red, the Optik brand is far better than the BnR stock, much smoother and finer, and more consistent.

Vermiculus,

I got my Optik from WH Smith. They are labelled Oxford Office Book, though you probably know that, and I thought they were only available in silver but it seems other colour covers are also around. Smith's don't always have then in stock so I buy a couple whenever they are ther (especially if on sale).

I think there is also a website somewhere but you might have to buy ten at a time.
