I stumbled across this one recently and was so anxious to get everyones take on it that I didn't even clean it up...

Judging by the spoon lever and late imprint plus the odd matching section and chrome taper trim that this is a very, very late pen designed for use with the 114 desk base, but I'm only guessing...

It's very nice. One day I'm going to get into desk sets. I want an 8 ball.

Its cool! I have one Mint Desk pen...but its the standard black and clear version. All I need now is the desk holder for it.

I've got a pen like that. It's a light teal green. I also have the base for it - it's a flat round disk same color as the pen with a silver pen holder that stands up from the base. I would guess not the last of the last Esties because it's well made. Maybe about the time of the purse pens. The very end of the Esties got into some pretty cheap plastic.

Would it be a possibility to get a picture of your set? I had assumed that this pen was designed for an eight ball type base, it would be great to see yours so I know what I'm looking for...

That's an interesting pen. I love that the section matches the body! I've never seen one of those before.

Yeah that one is close but not quite the same. I just sold one of those in grey and I have a burgundy and teal one coming but those sets had a slightly darker pen with a slightly lighter base and a black section and black trim ring on the taper. I'm actually watching that one for my collection but it's a bit older than the pastel blue here.

Here's a photo. The base really is an Esterbrook - it says so in a circle around the silver pen holder and it's made of the same ceramic material as the "8-ball". The pen also says Esterbrook in a circle just below the silver band instead of lengthwise on the pen. It may be a bit deceptive in the photo, the base is almost flat on the table. Looks like 1960 to me.

That is supremely cool!!! Thank you very much for sharing your pic with us. Now all I have to do is locate a incredibly rare base to go with my incredibly rare pen. I sense this could take years... but it will be worth it.

You know that is a cool set! I love the shape of the base, its different than the normal squashed ball of the other desk sets.
