Greetings Richard,
Until you made your post, I never noticed the number between the two cap bands. Oh well, time for new glasses or new eyes!
My number is quite a bit higher than yours at 47696. And here I thought these pens were had to find. I also have the Ideal Globe nib on my Opera. Out of curiosity, what type of nib is on your pen?
Peace,
Phroneo
Hi, Phroneo,
My Harlequin also came with the Ideal Globe nib; it was EF and wrote like a hat pin. I sent it to Greg Minuskin for retipping. It now writes a smooth fine line.
I checked my Exception Night & Day and discovered it also has a serial number: on the clip band opposite the clip. Mine is 07094. Perhaps these numbers are like the MB serial numbers and don't actually refer to the quantity of pens produced. I can't imagine there are 47696 examples of the Harlequin or Opera out there.
Best,
Richard
