A drop of aged Scotch whisky!

Written with Mitchell nibs and Designers Gouache.

Could the whisky possibly be as good as the label?

Hello there!

When I saw the label I could not help wishing it was raw autumn again and I was siting somewhere nice warm fire in a nice warm pub (for example Holy Bush in Hempstead would do) and was drinking some such vintage stuff...

Yet I nevertheless wonder when I look at this nice label whether you get to taste the whisky - or at least get a detailed description of its taste - in order to capture its character in the design of the label?

Thanks, Zed

Thanks Doug & Zed,

It's quite a romantic idea - matching the design to complement the taste of the whisky........but in my case, it would be a disaster, as I don't like the stuff! When I occasionally get a bottle to keep, I save it for visitors, or pass it on to my son, who likes it!

The letter 'R' is from :-

Historic Alphabets and Initials, Woodcut and Ornamental edited by Carol Belanger Grafton.
It was printed and published in USA by Dover Publications ISBN 0-486-23480-0

The aphabet which dates from the tenth century, is from an illuminated German bible, and is shown,
complete, in black & white.

My copy is very old, but I believe that it's still in print.
