I inquired sometime ago about who might restore the gold leaf depiction of the continents on a Montegrappa Gea. I eventually decided to see if Montblanc/Montegrappa might be able to do the work. I sent it to the Bethlehem PA facility for an estimate. I was advised that it had to be sent to Italy for estimates and repair and that it could take months.
About three weeks later it arrived at my office fully restored at no charge.
I think this aspect of standing behind a product (8 years after purchase) should be applauded. Montblanc takes a fair amount of criticism among aficionados, but I must say that this is an example that some other companies might want to emulate.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. It is this kind of customer service that often influences me to buy pens from a particular brand. I've also had some great experiences with Montegrappa, at least in the recent months. Their repairs seem to be less costly than Montblanc ones, most recently I dropped my Privilege Deco and snapped the back resin on it - it was sent to Italy where they replaced the entire barrel at no cost to me with a turnaround of 3 and a half weeks. It just gave me a completely new and improved view of a brand I merely liked before but now love.
