I just can't figure out what to make of this ink. It looks so different in differing pens and then it dries to a different colour as well. The result from the Duofold has surprised me, it started off quite blue and then dried to that blue-grey you can see, not at all what I was expecting. In other fine nibbed pens it's reminded me of a faded Parker Quink Washable Blue.

Wow, that's extraordinary variation between the two pens! I can hardly believe that the second half is from and XF, it looks so wet. It looks like there was some variation in flow with the Conway Stewart, even, is that right?

On my monitor it goes from a midnight blue to a dusty slate to almost a Noodler's Luxury Blue from the dip pen. I'm intrigued.

Please do try this ink out in other pens and lest us know.

Thanks for the review. Sure that in one case your pen was previously used with black ink, and there was a little residue in the pen, and in the lighter case, it was just washed and a little wet so the ink was just diluted a little and the dip pen... was clean and dry?

I washed out the Duofold before use and then gave it an extra wash because I just wasn't convinced about the colour from it at all. I don't have any black ink and I think the last ink I used in the Duofold was PR Shoreline Gold or Diamine Sepia, those were my usual choices for that pen.
The CS is on its second fill with China Blue and as I said in the review, it's a very wet writing pen, didn't notice any difference in flow when using it.

I wonder if China Blue is named after the character so memorably portrayed by Kathleen Turner in Ken Russell's film "Crimes of Passion"?

It seems to be the right shade of blue....

I'm guessing it's named after the cobalt oxide on blue and white porcelain.

Oh I am glad I have seen this review, I had been looking for a susbtatute colour for Diamine's Turquoise which I have trouble in my pens with, It was between the China Blue and the New Century Aqua Blue, and I have to say the Aqua blue is the one I went for, which is perfect, I would have been very disapointed with this one , just not what I would have expected from the swatch, there is no substatute for a written test
