Full Version: Striated

I know virtually nothing about Pelikans (and barely any more than that about any FP), so please bear with me for this newbie question:

Are the striated barrels of current-production Pelikans translucent? Can you see the ink level and inner workings all the way through like on some vintage celluloid pens? If not, the photos I've seen don't show an ink window, and that seems like a drawback, though certainly one one could live with.

Thanks for your patience.

I did try to search the forums for an answer to this, but didn't come up with what I was looking for...

All the Pels have an ink window. However, the striations are not translucent.

Generally you can't see the ink window because the pens are filled with ink, but its there I assure you smile.gif. I have two M200's and an M800.

Actually, the 'black' stripes are transparent.

The stripped Pelikans do not have an ink window; the stripped body is translucent (not transparent), so you can see the level of ink.

Only the black souverans (Toledo included) and the M200 and M150 have an ink window.

Whichever Pelikan you decide to get, you'll be able to check the ink level.

Did not know that. I can't wait to pick up a green m1000.
