Full Version: Broke My Mont Blanc and need a Part

I just joined the forum today and have greatly enjoyed reading and looking at pictures.

I need some help. Today I dropped my black Mont Blanc rollerball which I have had for about 16 years or so. It is a Meisterstuck with a serial number of C220320. The end of the main body piece cracked in 2 places. This is the black end of the pen body, past the gold ring. A call to one of their Boutique stores was a shock to me -- that the little piece on the end would cost $70 before tax. Glad that this is the first time I have ever dropped it, but how disappointing that it is so brittle and crackes that easily. I am really bummed out.

Here's what would help me, and I would appreciate any suggestions.

1. How do I know for sure what model I have?
2. Are parts available through this forum or a trusted business that you could recommend?
3. Should I just go in to the factory store and pay what they charge to get it repaired?

Thanks, JC.

Best bet would be to send it to Mont Blanc. I seriously doubt you would find the part elsewhere. I had a Le Grande rollerballl probably close to the same model as yours a few years back and the same thing happened to me. I know you don't want to cough up that kind of money but buying and maintaining a Mont Blanc is not cheap. Their "precious resin" is quite brittle and cracks quite easily. I sold the roller ball years ago but do own a 149 which is my only Mont Blanc.

Good luck in getting it repaired. My pen was gone for about 2-3 weeks and came back well packed and looking brand new.

Montblanc can tell you exactly which model you have by the serial number.

You can also tell which Meisterstuck model you have by the size.

You might be able to find the model by looking at the Montblanc site (I don't know whether the sizes are there or not):

http://www.montblanc.com/products/26.php

Before I sent a pen to Montblanc, I would post in the "Parts" section of the "classifieds" here and I would also post on the Pentrace market board. There are several Montblanc experts who may have a spare blind cap for you. You might want to email Pentiques.com, specifically.
