Hi,
Because it is Burgandy, which they don't make anymore I believe, it may fetch +/- $300. If you get it for under $300 I would think that would be a good deal for a mint one (thought not NOS, never inked).

Mont blanc 146Theere are 2 things you need to concider when buying a MB off EBay:
1.There are lots of fake MB out there and you take a big risk when buying a MB of EBay.I am not saying anything good or bad about the seller or his pen as I dont have enough detalis about the pen and I dont know the seller but personaly I wouldnt buy a MB of eBay unless the price would reflect the risk factor.
2.How much is the a red MB 146 worth. In near mint condition with box and paper I'd say 250$-300$ tops but I'd say closer to 250$.

On the subject of fake Montblancs: Both the 146 and 149 are piston fillers. I have not yet seen or heard of fake piston filling MBs. Perhaps others have?

The bigger fake MBs on eBay are usually the smaller ones, which are easier to make. The 145s, 114s, the ballpoints, etc etc...They're simple c/c fillers or ballpoints. The piston-fillers are a little more complex...I think...and I doubt a fraudster would waste his time on that...but that said - be careful anyway.

Used pens take a big hit on re-sale price unless there is something exceptionally desireable about them, which is not the case for an ordinary MB like this one. Then you have to deduct for the big risk factor of buying a MB off Ebay due to the abundance of fakes being sold there and elsewhere on the internet. The fakes are being made in several Asian countries - including China and others where there is little enforcement of copyright and pattent laws on high priced designer goods such as Mont Blanc, Rolex, Gucci, etc. etc. For some reason MB is the pen they most often fake - you do not see much faking of other big name brand pens yet. And they do not limit themselves to just one or two models - they have large modern factories and it is no problem for them to churn out different models for a few dollars each. Being able to make a fake for $10 and then sell it for a couple of hundred would not qualify in my book as being something a faker would consider wasting their time. Also, a box and papers mean little as they are even easier and cheaper to fake than the pen.
This pen may very well be just fine, but I know of no way to tell unless you get it in hand and take it apart and know what you are looking for. This seller may also be just fine, but I get nervous when I see a seller with such a small number of feedbacks.
Were I to buy a MB off of the internet I would want to have full confidence in the seller and have a no questions asked full money back guarantee if it were not what it was advertised to be.

The starting bid was $150.00 with only a single poor quality photograph. If everything was as states, and I'm not saying it's not, then I would expect several high quality photos showing greater detail.
