Hi everybody:
I have never bought a vintage pen. In the last few weeks I have bought five NOS, from Us$10 to Us$50. Nice pens, some rare.
But when you are looking for a vintage pen, a used pen, it is very sad in the condition some people show them: damaged, not working, the nibs very stained, they don't even cleaned the pens and nibs. Some nibs seem to have been exposed to some aceid for a long time.
Fortunatelly there are some other who offer cleaned, restored, new sacked, shinning nibs, fully working nice vintage pens.
So, let me share this thoughts:
¿why buy a vintage pen since there are marvelous, gorgeous new ones?
¿What moves you to buy a vintage pen?
For those who offer vintage pens here, I would ask full restored pens. If you say "needs a new sac", ¿where can I find a sac if I only have identified 4 pen shops in my whole country, Mexico, being the closer 280 miles from here?.

Julio,
In your case, you might not want to buy unrestored vintage pens. But vintage pens give you a whole different experience and tend to be less expensive, given the quality, than new pens.
Be that as it may, you might want to consider becoming Mexico's fountain pen restorer...

You read my mind. I need intensive lessons from with John, Richard, or another nibmeister,
I discovered a pen fleamarket in Guadalajara I hope can visit this summer.
Have a nice evenning,
