Greetings all.

I'm the new lad, an Irishman in Scotland.

Pens are kind of new and kind of not new to me. I've repeatedly tried to convert myself to FPs since my folks bought me a Waterman Laureat set for an early teen birthday (I'm now 25). Never got the hang of that one, although it is now in regular use since I found an ink it likes (Herbin Eclat de Saphir - I'm not into blues, but I dig this one) - it has always seemed quite picky and I didn't know how to approach that.

These days my carries are two Cross Century IIs with XF nibs - one full of PR Copper Burst, one with Noodler's BulletProof Black for when that's needed.

I'm a curious guy when it comes to nibs. I additionally have in boxes an F and an M nib/section for one of the Crosses, and an F for the Waterman (in addition to the M on it just now).

Now that my conversion is pretty much complete, I have my eye on a new Conway Stewart. Yes, they're pricey, but the Duro in White Swirl is gorgeous. Would I be mad to have it made with a plain black section?

That would steal funds from my other (please don't flame me, but also my primary) obsession: photography with all kinds of nice, old mechanical gear, mostly 35mm rangefinder.

Otherwise, I'm a regulr guy, and hope to be a regular here!

Mark.

Welcome Mark!

Flaming is not allowed here. Even if it were, photography and pens go together. We even have a pictures forum. Hmmm Duro white swirl with a black section. Sounds nice to me.

Welcome to FPN, goodyear biggrin.gif.

A Conway Stewart Duro is an excellent choice (more on this later wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif). I think it would look very good with a black section as this would balance well with the barrel blind cap and inner cap.

Hello Mark and welcome to the FPNuthouse! Glad you're here and we'd never flame you (at least not seriously - we joke around and pick with one another from time to time, but it's all good natured and fun and between friends). Looking forward to getting to know you better. See ya around! (Got some great pics on your site, BTW.)

I will follow up on our emails of last week in a while once funds are in place.

And those were exactly my thoughts on the black portioins of the pen.

Hello and welcome to the forum. When you do get that CS, I'll just sit back and be quietly jealous wink.gif I was just having a look at some of your photos, very impressive. It's years since I've done any black and white. It was at Fountains Abbey trying out my dad's old twin lens just to find out if it still worked.

That is my husband's new hobby---collecting older cameras, esp. rangefinders!
I see him looking at rangefinderforum.com all the time....He bought a few Canonets and has taken some really nice photos (well, in my uninformed opinion anyway smile.gif ) with them. I like your flickr.com photos---thanks for the link!

Oooops! Almost forgot... blush.gif

Welcome to FPN, Mark! biggrin.gif

My married name is an Irish one as my husband's family (paternal side, anyway) was originally from Wexford County smile.gif

That's a dangerous place - the guys there have been a very bad influence on me biggrin.gif

Some realy really excellent photographers, though.
