I was trying to see what Japanese pens might be on ebay besides Pilot and Sailors, and came across this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/JAPANESE-SPORS-CRESCEN...1QQcmdZViewItemDoes anyone know anything about it? I'm not going to bid, only curious. I can't quite make out exactly what is going on with the nib, but is it glass?

It is an inexpensive glass-nibbed pen from the late 1920s-early 1930s. As best I understand they were sold as novelties.
Unless you've taken a real liking to glass nibs, the color of th epen, or just have to have crescent filler....PASS.

Not much to add to Stan's views except that these can be fun pens and that the starting bid on this one is probably more than anyone should pay for a plain black model.
Cheers,
Tom
Thanks for your responses. I have absolutely no desire for a crescent-filler (sorry if that offends someone, I just prefer a sleek barrel line), but I was very curious about what I was seeing on the nib end... and I must say that, low-end or overpriced or whatever, I'm impressed that 70 or so years later a glass-nib pen is still floating around...

Hi,
I had one and it was fun to have, but not practical.
