Dear all...

Something arrived and I just want to share it...

The first time that I saw a Danitrio Wakasa-nuri FP was around a year ago. I remember it well, it was a Densho size one. The picture was a web compressed and small one, but this finish catched my eye since then. Now it has come the time that I could fit the budget and draw the pen of the wanted list and put it into the "I have it" list... Now I can see that no description can fulfill the apperance of the pen; no picture can show its full potential. Somewhere in this forum another lucky FP lover made some very good photgraphs which showed very well some close-up details which made me decide upon this purchase. It was only when the pen arrived a few weeks ago that I could start to admire this finish. As it has been told esewhere, all the finishing is done with former live materials, Urushi, seashells, seeds, pine leaves... Did I write former live materials?... well, that is not really truth, I should say that they have a complete new LIFE which starts with light, any kind of it...

I have been using this pen every day since it arrived and every day under different light conditions and it really is a different pen every moment, every day. The depth of the color changes, the colour reflections of the seashell, reflections and light refraction bring this life. If I put a resin pen beside or most of celluloid pens look kind of "dull" beside it. Yes. it is a "happy pen" to be used and to be looked at.

In Mikado size, clipless and with its soft F nib it is a real pleasure in any aspect. I even made a special pen pouch to carry it around and to have it conveniently protected. It was well worth. As far as I know, there are no more in production, a real pity as they are really spectacular.

Of course, my pictures do not show what the eye sees, they are static and my lighting is very limited and the particular feeling that one has when observing it will never be captured by a photographic camera!

Beautiful. It looks like red blood cells under a microscope navigating around flecks of multi coloured stone...

Yes, could be... did not even think in that comparison... I'll take care not to travel with this pen to Transylvania... headsmack.gif

What makes this finish so special is that the general aperance varies quite a lot with different qualityes of light source or intensity. It will never be boring!

Congratulations on the Wakasanuri Mikado, Jopen. smile.gif I've been eying that urushi treatment for over a year now. I've hesitated buying it, because I'd really like to see one first hand before committing to it. But it sounds like it is more than meeting your expectations. Enjoy! biggrin.gif

Myu, in my case the pen has exceeded all my expectations. All photos I have seen till now, including mines do not justice to the pen. The seashell effects with light is something that has to be seen with the pen in the hand, lightly turning and rocking it slowly, the colour change from blues to pinks, whites and greens... well one has to play with it to believe what I say. Regarding the area covered with other components and Urushi it gives a three-dimensional sensation with a very rich contrast. What can I say? I like it... On the other hand, as any Mikado around it behaves as that. I mean, flawlessly! The only problem... they seem already out of production... but Danitrio has lots of surprising pens, both in Urushi and Maki-e finishes... yes this is another problem too... there is no cure for the bite of this virus!!
