So I got my first Esties in the mail today. (Nibs numbered 1555 and 2668 (don't really know what that means, haha)) Brown and black plastic (acrylic?). They were smaller than I imagined.

Anyway, I rinsed them out and filled them up and tried them out. 2668 is a dream come true. What a great thing to write with. The 1555 I'm less impressed with. It's acceptable, but I'm going to leave it go for a while until I can get a different nib for it. I really love the way the Esterbrook is put together. Very easy to understand, and fun to play around with. Interchangeable nibs? Brilliant! I'm definitely a full on Esterbrook fan now.

Yay for your first Esterbrooks. They are only the first of many. The 2668 is my favorite nib.

Welcome to the slippery slope.

Here is a chart that will help you find the nibs you want. I think the solution for those nasty scratchy 1550's is the grind them into a stub nib, but that is just me. (And to be fair, this is best done to damaged nibs instead of good ones!)

Look for some 9000 series master nibs and you will really like them.

If you like the 2668 nib, you'll really like 9668 (my favorite).

(Thanks for trading nibs with me!)
