No repsponse from email or phone call to Penstoponline but I am curious if anyone knows whether what is shown on their site is really a 1911 (as it appears) or Pro Gear.

This looks like one of the original Mosaic fountain pens. I believe it was just called the Sailor Mosaic. These are 1911 style, but a little smaller. I think it's the same size as the 1911 colors series. 21k nibs. The sections are black, but everything else is crafted from the Mosaic material.

I once had the full set, but I sold them because they were too small and I never used them. Needless to say I was happy to see them offer the material on the larger PG series. So now I have a full set of those...

I saw this one yesterday up close and personal - but it's way out of my range even on a good day. Gorgeous pen.

I've seen several larger Naginata King 'Profit' pens in the mosaic--left over, I've been told, from a run that sold well a while ago here in Japan. Full price they are around $600.

Are these the long slender ones with the ribbed Mosaic material for the barrel and matte black resin for the cap, section, and end? They were pretty popular in the US, too, as one of the more approachable ways to trying one of the crazy Nagahara nibs. I never much cared for them, though. It always seemed to me that the Naginata style ribbing of the Mosaic material lessened its effect- made it tough to see how rich the material was marbled.

I've seen those ribbed pens here, too, and agree that they really take away from the lovely colors. And like you, I am NOT a fan of Naginata nibs, preferring low-to-moderate flowing nibs. But the pens I was referring to were not these ribbed pens, but are beautiful full sized Profits. (That makes them a bit large for my tastes.)

Are you talking about this size- the one in the middle? I'd love to get the Mosaic colors in that size. I like those big pens...
