What I was interested to see that they used the thread sealant on Touchdown and Snorkel section threads to provide a better air tight seal in the barrel, which of course leads to a more complete ink fill. (Next time you take one apart, check the threads, you'll find traces of rosin on it)
As I said, it's light amber rosin based, low odor, and quite tacky. It softens and releases quite nicely with gentle heat. I now use it for all thread seals, including Parker Vacumatics, Sheaffer Vacuum fillers, PFM, Snorkel and TD pens. It's also used to hold the nut in place on the piston rods on Sheaffer vacuum fillers.
