I tried to post something positive, and have come to realize it was a mistake and not my position to have posted. I've asked the mods to remove the thread.

Thanks.

That is all very true and enjoyable. I can only speak of my phone calls with Pelikan here in Hannover, or with my store (where I don't work) which is just as informative and pleasant as when I'm in the store -- eye to eye -- just about to buy this that or the other pen or ink. I've never (yet) bought anything like this online, just for that reason!

Great!!

Hmm... I don't mean to be negative, but my view is that the retailers are institutions, and therefore their actions are public. On the other hand, customers are private persons. It is perfectly acceptable for a customer to publicly discuss the retailer, but it is not okay for a retailer to discuss the customer. I would see it as an invasion of my privacy if a retailer discussed my habits, manner, appearance, etc, with another client. However, when the tables are turned and I am in the role of seller (or service provider), then it is perfectly normal for my customers/clients/patients to talk about me, since in those cases I take on a public role.

Which is why I did not go into details about what was said. If it had been negative, you'd have never known. However, when it's positive, it deserves to be said. Sure, the dealer wants to keep business. In this case, though, it was genuine respect, and very clear to see not as a seller/buyer relationship, but as peers and equals sharing a passion for pens. It wasn't about sales or need to sell, it was about meeting a friend and sharing a passion. Since that person has been a positive to me as well, I felt she should be recognized. Maybe I should have said it to her in private. But when people get unexpected and very positive praise, I think it should be shared.

Based upon your observation, though, I've removed the names of both parties of whom I've referenced. I'm debating contacting the mods to remove the post all together.

I'd say let the post be. The person's name isn't referenced any longer (I never saw it either). And it's a nice story, to hear about another FPN member getting such positive recognition from a seller. Thanks for sharing. smile.gif

kiavonne, to be clear -- I am not criticising you. People are different, and I imagine that many would indeed think it is a nice story. I did not mean to make you feel bad, just wanted to point out a perspective you may not have realised was there.
