For years I had searched for journals filled with parchment paper, as I much prefer the look and feel of parchment paper. I think it just feels right when using a fountain pen. Well, after a very long search I finally came across http://www.dvynewrytes.com/ where I could order a custom made journal filled with fine parchment paper. I could spend time describing the journal, but you are better off going the web site and looking for yourself.
Anyway, I received my 1,000 page (500 sheet), hard bound, brown leather journal about 16 months ago, and have filled about 250 pages to date. After almost daily use, it still looks like it did when I removed it from the shipping box. The leather looks great, and has darkned a bit as to be expected with leather. I orderd my journal with my initials on the spine, and since they are raised with a solid filling they cannot flatten out.
The parchment paper is very nice, and I think 32 pound. No need to say it, but I will. The paper is fountain pen ink friendly.
While this was an expensive way to go, I anticipated the journal to last 3 to five years before I will need to order another one. So in the long run it is cost effective.
Since my journal is the large size, and with 500 sheets of heavy parchment, it is about 4 inches thick, this is not a travel journal. However, she offers smaller journals, both with hard and soft bindings.
All and all I am thrilled with my journal, and I am pleased I made the investment. Once filled, I will reorder and get another one. I bought the journal so that I would have it when my first child was born, and started writing in it the night he was born. One day, I hope he will treasure the record of our family life that I am keeping for him. When he is old enough, he too will have a fine journal from D'Vyne Wrytes.
Once again, NO AFFILIATION, just a very pleased customer that really appreciates fine American craftmanship and someone that takes pride in their work.
