Well, here it is......my M1000 next to my M400 White Honey. Excuse the fingerprints on the M1000. I used it at work all day thumbup.gif

Judging from the size I think i will be right at home with the M800 line, though I am so glad that I bought this M1000. The nib is beautiful and springy. Witting is a pleasure with this pen. I wrote at work today for 8 hours and fell asolutely in love with it cloud9.gif

Congrats, it is striking!

Coincidentally, my only Pelikans are the M400 and M1000, and both have the same color as yours. smile.gif

ha ha, congrats dr ozzie, we got ours within a day or so of each other, so i know the feeling! what nib did you get? care to upload a writing sample?
Calbei
Because I've only just noticed the actual difference in physical nib sizes... that nib is freaking HUGE!! drool.gif Would love to splash out on that M1000, though it would probably be too big for my hand.

The nib is truly ENORMOUS!

This has to be such a pleasure. If you do happen to post writing samples, I would be very curious to see lines written by an 800 side by side, that is if you own one!

Hope you enjoy the pen.

I do not own an M800, thats going to be my next one. I have been looking to buy an M800 in the blue black pattern.

I will see if I can post a writting sample tonight. I will warn you though, my handwritting is nothing to be too proud of.
Have Fun

Just given I want a more "every day" sort of pen now, I have been seriously looking at the M800 (along with the 600, though for some reason my original inclinations are being shifted towards the 800). But I guess, when I think M1000, I truly think "grand" -- definitely something I'd like to own in the future.

The writing sample will be welcome, and as a note, I think many of us will find a standard attempt at handwriting has a sort of liveliness unique to it, which is charming in a different way from, say, perfect cursive penmanship.

I'm a mere university student, so obviously with modest experience doing any sort of fine writing, but as it is, for everyday writing, I've been experimenting with someone's advice to left italicize my writing to an extent, and it seems to do great things keeping it under control. This is more standard writing, not by any means cursive, which I think looks better written traditionally. The left italics seems to allow me to control rapid strokes made with the especially smooth pens.

Again, thanks for the sample offer. Now I think of it, I would be interested to see the 1000 compared with almost any of the others (2xx, ..., 8xx), that is in terms of writing.

Then you'll have yet another dilemna tongue.gif

There are few pens that I think rhodium trim looks even better than gold trim and the M805 Blue stripe is one of them. Give them a good look they are very impressive and classy at the same time!

Just thought I'd add my thoughts on this beautiful pen because I received my own today, M1000 with an EF nib from Mr. Propas, a gentleman. Pre-owned. The M1000, not Mr. Propas.

Now about the pen. I love it. Yes, it's large, but I have a big mitt, no problem there. But one slight adjustment has been necessary in these first four hours. I'm backing off on the pressure just a bit because it seems a bit wetter than my other Pelikans but only a slight adjustment has been necessary.

I congratulate us both on acquiring this beautiful (large) pen. And now my collection is complete and I'll never buy another Pelikan. (Just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.)

[I've edited this a bit since it was originally posted a few hours ago. Great pen.]

I was never able to get an accurate fix on the M1000 nib size until this pic was posted.

...the feed probably holds as much as a short cartridge.

Very nice M1000! I picked one up a while back and it's currently inked with Diamine Kelly Green, natrually.

It came with a nice fine nib and a medium nib, upon which Richard Binder performed his magic at the Raleigh Pen Show and turned it into a 0.65mm stub:

Gotta love those M1000s!

Beautiful! ;-)

The m1000s are extremely good values.
