Except that Montblanc didn't make any Meisterstück 146 during the 1960' and 1970' this pen from somewhere between 1986 and 1990 looks real to me. But are you sure to bid on a pen offered from Tailand?

Axel

I am not an expert but the pen in the picture look legit to me.
As for bidding on a pen from Tailand,I'd PM Speerbob to ask him if he knows this seller. He is a power seller so he might be ok.
Pravda
I also wouldn't buy from there sad.gif

Thanks for everyone's response.
But why so skeptical on buying from Thailand. It seems that the sellers from Thailand offer MBs for a lot cheaper.

Ah, the light bulb is starting to go on ... you've got half the equation, just fill in the blank.

Do you mean to say that shipping is very expensive or that they tend to be fakes, hence the low prices?

I seem to remember this seller come up once before... I will try to look for the link, I dont remember if it was good or bad...

Here we go...

Speerbob seems to say he is ok

Hi, Puget2005 is the only Thailand dealer you can pretty much trust. He is honest, though his descriptions are sometimes off a bit due to lack of deep knowledge. He also will not take returns so if there is a problem, don't count on a return. I'm no longer in Thailand. I left on 14 June after 3 years in the pen business there. You should now avoid all the Thailand dealers except maybe Puget2005. Cheers, BOB

If Montblanc didn't make any Meisterstück 146 during the 1970's, then why did they have it on their 1973 pricelist?

Here's a link where you can find a PDF of the pricelist: http://www.caprafico.com/de/pens-88/montbl...price-list-1973

I believe that this was right at the time that MB re-introduced the 146 after cancelling it sometime around 1960.

I also distinctly remember that the 146 was available in the late 1970s in the USA, marketed as the "Classic" alongside the 149, which MB was also calling the Diplomat. I bought my first MB at age 14 with newspaper-route money, and passed by the 146 straight to the 149.

You are right, Kalessin, my fault.
Montblanc reintroduced the 146 in Autum 1973.

*sigh* I have no budget for pens these days, but I do want a 146, 1970's style (monotone nib, plain unstriped ink window), with a broad nib.

Someday... smile.gif
