Hello everyone...

I just recently acquired a MYU 701, and I noticed that ink was coming out through the part of the section that clutches to the cap (the little "bumps" in the picture below). I've already made sure to tighten the thread ring that attaches the section to the barrel, but that didn't help. Then, I took the thread ring off and applied some silicon grease to the inside of the threads thinking somehow ink was getting up through there, and that didn't help either. Upon closer inspection, it looks like the ink is coming back up between the plastic piece that is the threads/convertor attachment and the outside metal walls. I am at a loss for how to stop that ink from creeping up there since I don't know of any way to take that plastic parts out without damaging the pen.

To round out the information, I am using a CON-20 convertor from my MYUREX and Noodler's FPH Old Manhattan.

Sorry if this wasn't completely clear, but the MYU doesn't really lend itself to typical fountain pen terminology, but I am hopeful that someone here has been able to rectify a similar issue and might help me.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Sorry for the double post, but I wasn't sure where forum was best to post this in.

I've had some issues with my old CON20 converter in my Murex - it's come loose in the pen twice, leaving a rather inky mess and the ink seeped from every conceivable crack and joint. Took a lot to clean it out both times and ink was defintely in the space between the threads on the section end. The first time I did not do as good a job cleaning out all the threads and it continued to seep for a few days leaving me with inky fingers until I did something about it. That is not supposed to be a sealed joint I don't think so the threads aren't designed to be ink tight, so to speak. I've finally just gone back to Namiki cartridges - with which the pen works flawlessly, and will eventually get a new CON20 converter.

I had a similar problem with an old press bar converter and my Parker 75 - got a new converter and it works great. I suspect, but don't know, that perhaps the CON20 is not seating properly, leading to the issue you're describing. I'd clean it really well and give it a shot with some Namiki cartridges to see if that fixes the problem. If so you know it is a bad seal with the converter - which over time I'm lead to believe can happen with any of them if they've been removed and reinserted a certain number of times, or just perhaps from age. I hope that is helpful and that is solves the problem, cause they are great looking and generally great performing pens!
