The artwork was written/drawn at 150% of the finished size. The text was written with Rotring Artpens.

Magic, as always. I particularly like the way you distinguish different units of information with different letter sizes and fonts and still manage to keep a harmonious uniformity to it all. Made me want a drink as well, too bad I don't keep any whisky in my office anymore.

Since this is the first time I've had the temerity of posting on your threads, let me add that if you hadn't posted these vids I would have found it impossible to believe that someone could write so many beautiful styles with such breathtaking accuracy.

I see it, but I'm not sure I believe it. Your work is amazing! As I mentioned in an earlier post on one of your threads, I want you to teach my laser printer to print with the same degree of accuracy, precision and elegance that you have. wink.gif

Thank you for sharing this.

Another goal from Ken. If I remember correctly you write/draw all labels, and I see they are 60.
If that bottles are available for export I would like buy to own one of those pieces of art.
Thanks for sharing.

Aaaah, nothing better than a good Uncial smile.gif

Wonderful!

Thanks, tipstricks

When I'm given the details of a new whisky, I write them on a master copy, and then have the labels printed as required - so I only write the details once.

Some time ago, I posted a copy of the only label I've ever produced, having written every one.
This was for a special promotion for a London department store.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Your penmanship is inspiring, as always, Caliken. I can scarcely imagine a better combination of fine writing and fine spirits than the association of your impeccable script with a well-aged single malt. Well done!

Just... too... cool.

I look at that video and I'm really amazed. Do you pencil yourself guides, or are you just naturally able to center and size everything so well? I really like this, and I think it's cool that hand lettering was done for the original label. Makes it so much more pleasant to think that - other than for duplication - the original was not machine typeset. It's an art, and we get to see it through you.

Thanks!

Thanks, kiavonne.

For this type of work, I draw pencil guidelines and then center the lettering, by eye.

If I'm centering lettering on work where there is no second chance - such as on mounts for paintings or on the first blank page of a book for presentation, I letter twice- first on a piece of paper and then on the subject, using the paper as a guide.

I agree with you, kiavonne. The more technology takes over our lives, the more the market for hand-produced work, grows. For example, label work, such as the above, is more highly valued because it shows the human element epitomised by the slight imperfections and variables which come from hand work. Long may this interest continue and long may the FPN continue to promote not just the collection of fountain pens, but their usage!

Sir, you are an amazing talent! thumbup.gif

What pen did you use? I saw a white tip---is it possible that was a Rotring ArtPen?

I want one of those bottles, but with only 60 produced, well. I am wondering about the possibility of selling the label art!

I used three Rotring Artpens with three different widths of nib, all filled with Aurora black ink.
