Full Version: A RARE ESTERBROOK Moment!
The Fountain Pen Network > Brand Focus > The Esterbrook Forum

I know all of you have seen the standard red Dip pen boxes from Esterbrook. Finding a box in mint condition is uncommon. Finding a box in mint condition, sealed, is very hard to find. I have acquired a box (not on eBay) in the rarest form of all. It is still sealed in the spider-web wax paper from the factory. Finding a box in this condition is about as rare if not more so than finding a Visumaster in mint condition.

I know its not fountain pen goodness...but for me...its like uncovering the Arc of the covenant puddle.gif Attached are scans of the box and what the nib looks like inside (no I didn't open it! Are you kidding? I actually had another box of the same smile.gif )

enjoy!

There is no end to these things to lust for?

I don't think I've ever seen a box of nibs like this even in a photo - Magnificent find!

Really, those are rare? I can clearly recall standing in an antique shop in Hattiesburg Miss. where they had 7 or 8 boxes like this still sealrd with the paper tag on the end. I remember seeing it and thinking how cute the 923 was my Aunts birth month and year. It's been 3or 4 years since so i'm sure they are long gone by now.

Nice find. Congrats!!

Oh the suspense would kill me. I would have to open it and yet I would also want to preserve it. Decisions decisions!

Oh I'd agree with you! However, I thankfully already had a box of 923 opened. So I already knew what was inside happyberet.gif

Yikes! Yes they are that rare in that condition. Most people open them.

Hmmm....3 or 4 years ago. They might still have some. Would this store have a web site or an address/phone?

I have no idea. It was just a shop we stopped at on the road. I only remember it because I found a NOS Sheaffer Snorkel there and the 923 date thing.

POE, maybe if you search your memory and can come up with more info on the places
location (roads, near what?) maybe Penarific can go on-line and sniff the place out.
