Full Version: Interesting Fleabay listings

Kinda strange listings, the person seems to know more about them than someone
who might have made a huge "estate sale" score but weird that he's selling
"lots" by groupings of pens. Also weird that if he's a collecter he doesn't seem to have
done much work on the pens or at least work that he's talking about in the listing.

I'll enjoy watching the bidding on these.

My GAWD!!! That person is going to walk away with a small fortune! yikes.gif When I first started eye balling Esterbrook fountain pens, it was common for them to go for about 9 bux an SJ. Now its almost 20 in some cases! Heck, just today a Tan Esterbrook went for 48 dollars!

I'm just a noob here but I have to think he'd have done better to take the time to sell them
one at a time. If not that, then at least not stick the whole TON of them on at one time.

It's going to be interesting to see who "cries uncle" first, any of our restorers here wanting to
work on them (maybe keeping some for themselves) or someone intent of either filling in a major
hole in their collection or maybe buying a good one to start with.

Otter be intrestin'...

You're right. Taking the time to sell individually is best. You tend to get more that way than in bulk. Be that as it may though, I am willing to bet they walk away in excess of 1,000 dollars by the end of it!

I just took a look at these. With a long way to go, a few of the lots are doing very well. In fact, they are getting up there already to where I'm not interested. Ten unrestored Dollar pens for $200 is doing well, for a single listing fee, single mailing, single PayPal fee, etc. AND with the way Esterbrooks are selling right now, they may bring more.

Now, I'd have been interested in the whole lot as a collection had they been available, there are some interesting things hidden in the piles.

I can tell you what they are doing right now... They have a lot of peoples attention, usually I list on sunday and 50 percent are gone with Buy It Nows by tuesday. By wednesday morning I'm down to just a couple less desirable / more expensive items. This week I haven't sold a single lot and have half the number of people watching/ asking questions as I normally would.

Thankfully its over on Sunday rather than sunday or this would really hurt...

Yes, exactly. I'd love to start collecting Fountain Pens...but there is just too many people out there with too much money and time than I do crybaby.gif

Well, I don't know about you guys but I got the auctions that I wanted out of "one-light" however, the communication with this seller is non-existent. I hope he gets more talkative on Monday. But assuming that everything works out, I got 11 desk sets including three really, really rare ones for $225...

At least the lot of J's and LJ's went to someone in Brazil who say they are collectors.
They don't appear to be FPNers.

I was interested in the DARK red ones and sent them a fleabay message. They said
the weren't planning on selling any of what they won the bid on.

I got my first real response from one-light today and he seems reasonable, but very, very slow to respond to anything. I hope it's faster to get stuff shipped than it is to get shipping combined and a new invoice sent...

Otherwise I'll be moved by the time my sets arrive... at my old address. headsmack.gif
