I just got my Sheaffer Legacy 2 (from PenHero) w/ ItaliFine regrind (from Richard) - and... well... OMG! My only other FP experience has been my Lamy Studio (EF), but I can't believe the difference! The pen is fantastic and the writing experience is sublime...

/me in dreamy state

I have a digital camera coming in soon and I'll post shots soon - Thanks Richard & Jim<at>PenHero!

The pens are really very different and I'm not sure it will be an apples-to-apples comparison. For one, the nib size/format are not the same (Legacy = Binderized ItaliFine, Studio = EF).

The Sheaffer nib feels "softer" to me than the Lamy nib (steel nib) - I don't know if it means the Sheaffer is "flexy" or not since I've not had that experience yet. The Legacy puts down a wetter line and feels much "smoother" when compared to the Studio.

I'll take some pictures when Brown delivers my new camera.

Congrats.

I actually chose a Lamy 2000 over the Legacy 2 closeouts at Pen Hero. I saved about $70, and absolutely love the design of the Lamy. However, the scratchy fine nib is not a pleasure to write with. My guess is that I received an adnormal nib. With little resolve, it is my hope to pay the $7.50 and get a nib swap.

Enjoy the Legacey for me!

I have a Lamy 2000 (M) coming in so I'll be able to do a better comparison soon.

Just keep in mind that you can swap the Lamy steel nib on the Studio easily to another one yourself. They are cheap and also available in italic (1.1 mm, etc.).

Of course they can't compete with Richards fine-tuning wink.gif
