A naive quest, of course — looking for a Cedar Blue blind cap, with jewel, for my very smart Parker 51. Bread cast upon the waters...

You do realize that the blind cap will most likely not be a perfect fit to the barrel...
The blind cap and barrel were turned together to get the proper fit...
You could end up with a blind cap that might actually be smaller in diameter than the barrel... or larger

Thanks for the info. No... it’s all news to me! I figured the problem would be with the color match, not the fit. Maybe I should keep on looking for a complete DJ 51... As a collector and deal once told me — if you’ve got the money you can find the pen.

Ahh, but given the parts and the time and the right tools, a blind cap can be mated to a barrel with very good results. It does help to have a selection of barrels and blind caps to select from to find a close match first though.

Quite true... but we both know that this is not the realm of the newbie or someone just looking for a quick replacement...
The operative words are parts, time and the right tools... but you forgot to mention the experience to do it correctly....
