I just wanted to give a plug to an interesting little store on the main drag in Chapel Hill, NC, where I was vacationing a couple of days ago. Name is "Toots & Magoo." The design director is Chloe Greene and she can be reached at chloe@tootsandmagoo.com. Store's phone # is 9190-942-3339. Along with a very interesting selection of papers and notecards, I was especially impressed with their own special flavor of actual Moleskine notebooks with a special "scrollwork" design on the front cover. No pens but a very nice paper selection overall.

Another wonderful notecard designer I encountered in Roanoke, VA - Roanoke Valley Printworks - web site is www.roanokevalleyprintworks.com. The owner does all of his own design on silkscreen and letterpress equipment. I bought two nice cards, my favorite of which simply says "Okay! I'm an [drawing of an angry, kicking mule with hindquarters prominent]" Very cool store with some other fantastic visual image finds, huge photographic art etc etc.

Don't know when I'll get to use that card, but I expect it won't be too long...

You go to Chapel Hill, NC for VACATION???? I spent four years there as an undergraduate, and I love the place.... but I've never heard of anybody going there for a vacation.

I went there too, for graduate school! My son is now an undergrad there, so I'll have to check the store out when we take him back for Fall Semester. As for vacation, well, I live on the coast....so I live on vacation!
