Does anyone know anything about the Waterman Edson 125 year special edition that is supposed to be out this Fall. The silver LE Edson used to be my Grail as far as waterman goes , but this one is really cool looking. My Grail quest could be changing. Would like to know more about it. Any info out there?

Where did you see the pen - what website?

I saw it as an add for Waterman on the Mora Stylos site.

Thanks for the photos Oberon - and good work on this find. I had not heard of this pen's upcoming release.
I just took delivery on a new Waterman Edson Black Diamond - such an elegant Art Deco style nib. The Black Diamond in medium writes a smooth buttery line - a bit thinner line than most medium nibs. I had tried to buy the pen in Broad, but Waterman did not offer the Black Diamond in Broad.
This 125th Anniversary Pen has a wintery look to it. I wonder what the actual barrel will look like - whether the white or platinum diamonds and lines will be inlaid or painted on. The other Edsons have such an iridescent look to the barrel resin - I hope this special edition will equal or top its lesser brothers.

I have always loved the shape and feel of the Edsons, lusted for an all silver limited edition with a factory broad stub , but now this one rings my bell. I had found a sinipit on the 2008 that said release October, but I can not seem to get back to it. Go figure.

Not bad but I prefer the Edson Boucheron over it.

That's troubling. The booklet that came with my Diamond Black says that it is available in EF, F, M, B, Stub, OF, and OB. It's annoying that they'd put that in the booklet then not offer the pens for sale, especially on their flagship pen.

Really?! Did you contact Waterman's customer service to see if they would do a nib exchange? I know it is a pain in the arse to do a nib exchange on a new pen, but they should offer the option nonetheless. I was able to do nib exchanges on the Edsons I have, but that was several years ago, before the "new, improved" Waterman customer service.

I dont share other people sentiments here.
I think the Edson is one of the most attractive pens ever made, fooling around with the design just looks cheap and unattractive to me.
Last pen meeting I got the chance to see the Edson LE pen and was really really not impressed with it.Its worth over 3000$ and I honestly dont see what so unique about it.My regular blue Edson is just perfect and I wouldnt mind owning the other colours available but thats it.

$3,000 for just a different color?

Wow, Waterman's sales team must be inhailing too much pixie dust.
At least Mont Blanc and Pelikan offer you more than just a color change in a LE pen, like more gold/precious metals, inovative artistic designs, etc

Well the Edson LE is not just different colour,it as a different barrel design that to me looks too much.

No. I would choose the SS or black over that any day.

Waterman service will do a nib exchange for a new Edson, but it has to go to Paris for that. My Edson nib exchange took several months, but I did it smack in the middle of Christmas/New Year holiday season.

Agreed. I actually like the design, but not as much as the simple barrel. Give me a Diamond Black or... oh, wait, I have one. Never mind.
Carry on.

I have a blue Edson tha tI love, and I'd rather get another in the Sterling Silver version. the newer LE looks too gaudy to me. Second choice will be the black version.

The Boucheron version of the Edson is quite attractive, sorta like the 125. I won't judge if its worth the extra money, but it seems that the Edson is a helluva pen as it is.

Yeah - that one little problem will likely limit this handsome pen's use in my small stable.
The reliable brick & mortar store where I buy most pens tried to order the pen in Broad - they say they were told the Black Diamond was only shipped in Fine and Medium. After taking delivery, the B&M store tried to send the pen in for a nib exchange to Broad, but they were told that Broad was not available for the Black Diamond.
If anyone convinces Watwrman to put a Broad nib on a Black Diamond, I'd certainly love to hear their secret.
Frank, if you or Splicer have any ideas, I'd appreciate them.

I'm thinking false-advertising prosecution. Those [ not going to bother typing the word that'll get me pottymouthed ] are never getting another dime of my money.
I love my Edson, but this is just disgusting.

all the nib size are available for the EDSON BLACK DIAMOND, I don't list them because they are too expensive. J.M.L.

Hi Oberon
I find that hard to believe: 800 dollar. That's less than the regular price for an Edson in the USA, I believe?
My penshop in The Hague quoted me: around 1800 Euros, which would bring it to around 3000 dollar or more. Don't know if Waterman has a global or a regional price policy.
It would be a LE of 1883 pieces. The surface should have a Palladium finish with deep blue lacque.

Very big Edson fan me. Just got yet another nib section for mine. They just feel good and write well without coaxing. One of the best pens ever in my book..... would I buy another? erm. Let me get back to you on that one !!!
