I got bored today and decided to play with my blue inks. I couldn't get a good scan of the inks, so this a digital photo. The only one that doesn't look right is Florida Blue, which leans more toward purplish tones than the photo shows.

That should work a little better.
NoSnow - You've got exactly the color of Tahitian Pearl. It's exactly what I imagined Noodlers Aircorps would be, instead of the green-black color that it actually was.

Thanks for the review of my favorite color ink! I'm putting that bottle of Aurora Blue which I got from you (for the American Blue) to good use, but it is more purply than the blues you've presented, at least in some pens.

I think it's fair to say that Tahitian Pearl is an eternal version of Midnight Blue, which is a tick bluer than Blue-Black.

My favorite blue ink is undoubtedly Waterman Blue-black, but the Sailor blue isn't far behind.
I hear the Sailor is an alkaline based ink, so I assume it is not to be mixed with other inks. That makes me worry just a little bit.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your reply,So Sailor ink is safe to use in fp?
RyanL27

emrecan,
Yes, it's perfectly safe for fountain pens (it had better be, it's loaded in my Aurora 88), and it can be mixed with all other Sailor ink. I just read on Pendemoniums website that it is however alkaline based, which means you shouldn't mix it with other brands. I really don't know much else, but it really is a very nice behaving ink so far.

Thanks for the picture, Ryan!
Does Tahitian Pearl have the same odor as Glacier Blue?
That bottle of Glacier Blue you traded to me has found a tolerant home (the waterproofness and color are good), but it's not going to get a successor clone after it goes empty. The ink smells less from my Lamy Safari medium than from my Hero 329 (hooded-nib clone of Parker) fine.

Southpaw - I think I'd have to have money in my bank for you transfer any, and I've got a Sheaffer Touchdown and a few new Parker 51s that say it's unlikely.
Goodwhiskers - Yep, the Tahitian Pearl has the same odor (aroma?

) as the Glacier. It may be a little less potent in the Tahitian but still noticeable in my wetter nibs. I've come around a bit on the smell; it's not too bad a caveat for otherwise superb ink.

Thanks Ryan. I've been wondering about that Tahitian Pearl. I need a good Blue-Black. I've tried one Swishmix before (Seminole Sepia) and am very pleased with it. Tahitian Pearl may have to be my next!

Thanks Ryan and fellow inkmeisters. The Tahitian Pearl is just what I wanted it to be!
I also got in some Noodler's Midnight Blue and Forest Green. Very happy with all of them.
All the best,

KRZ,
What's the Noodler's Midnight Blue like? Do you get shading from it? How much N's Black does it have, if any?
Thanks,

Thanks,
Here's a scan of me doodling with the Midnight Blue. Please excuse the handwriting, I do more drawing than writing.
It does seem to have some N. Black in it. The Rotring Core with XL nib is the only pen I have that didn't work well with Noodler's Black. I don't have a sample of that, but it came out as a dark grey.
The Rotring Core XL nib loved the Noodler's Midnight Blue though.
I've scribbled out a few Noodler's colors for comparison.
I'm very pleased with the Midnight Blue.

Thanks, KRZ!
After looking at the scan I posted I noticed the Tahitain Pearl samples were weak looking. I filled a new pen with it and it's closer in tone to the Midnight Blue sample. There must have been some residual water left in the Core pen after I flushed it.
Good thing I'm not a scientist!
I'll get up a better sample of the Tahitian Pearl when I can. The other samples are ok.
BTW Tahitian Pearl is becoming my favorite carry around ink.

Hey, sorry to dig up an old thread, but the images are having trouble displaying. I've been referred back to this thread numerous times again and again as I have been searching the forums extensively in my hunt for a permanent dark blue. I remember being able to see this, but then the image disappeared for a while, and now all I see is an "imagehosting.us: file traffic over" image. Maybe such an important image should be attached to the message, that way it remains on FPN's servers indefinitely, instead of on someone else's servers that couldn't care less about the image.
EDIT: to add image
