Has anybody experienced any problems using Montblanc Bordeaux or British Racing Green in a M400 pen? Easier to ask than discover.

John Cullen
I do not have a 400 but I have used the MB inks. In my experience, the bordeaux was a bit of a dry flowing ink and tended to dry up more quickly than most inks in the feed and thus result in a bit of a hard start if the pen had been sitting around for a few days. In my experience, the racing green flows at a faster rate and does not dry out as quickly as the bordeaux.

I can not even remember which pens I tried them in, so this is probably not a whole lot of help. Sorry I can not be more helpful here. j

I had the bordeaux in a Pel 200 and didn't care for it. Just too stingy. If you like muted inks and a dry write, then you might like the bordeaux. Just wasn't my style at the time.

I've heard good stuff about Racing green but haven't tried it.

Thanks for the information. I have an older Esterbrook which is a very wet writer so might try the bordeaux in it and reserve the BRG for my M400.

You might ask someone to shoot you a postcard with some MB racing green ink on it, as it is an unusual color. It seems like one of those colors that people really like or really do not like. It might be worth your time to see some of it before you pay for a bottle. J
