I bought this black 1946 - 4th Quarter, Parker Vacumatic from an auctioneer at the local
"Buchanan's Flea Market", held at the Oklahoma state fairgrounds every month.

I just wanted to know what size it was, such as "Standard" or "Slender" or whatnot, also,
really, just wanting to know anything more I can about the pen as it is one of the nicer ones I now own.

With the cap on it is 5 inches long exactly (or maybe 5 & 1/16th), or 12 & 3/4ths centimeters if you prefer.
With the cap off, it is right at 4 & 5/8ths inches, or right about 12 centimeters exactly.
It's almost exactly half an inch wide at the center of the body of the pen.
The cap is about 9/16ths of an inch at the base.

It has a gold clip that says PARKER vertically with no blue diamond (or place for one).
It also has a gold band that has the criss-cross "^v^v^v^" pattern,
with a blank spot where an inscription could go.

It's marked:

GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. "6" (with no dots)

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide smile.gif

p.s. I really love the FPN... biggrin.gif

It is a Vacumatic Major- a 3rd Generation pen in this case- with incorrect clip from same size Junior model. Should be a Blue Diamond clip.

hmm... very interesting... the clip seems to be pretty natural to the pen though?
Could it have been put together that way at the factory?
Or is that something that only would have been done later?

The clip is the same size as the BD clip and can be removed simply by unscrewing the jewel and bushing. Clip swaps are one of the most common interventions on Vacs.

Anything can, i suppose, have happened at the factory. I have seen Sheaffer caps on Parker Barrels. Someone could have done that at a factory wink.gif

The pen as shown is not as catalogued.

You have one just like mine in your "sold pen" section on Vacumania, with the clip without the blue diamond.

This is a Blue Diamond clip.

It simply lacks the blue paint, and could quickly be touched up.

Your pic was a bit limited in the presentation of the superior aspect of the clip, but if indeed yours has a diamond (painted or not) then the clip is correct after all. If rather, it is just the split-feather "Parker" clip without diamond motif- otherwise identical to the BD clip- the original issue remains in play.
