Okay, I bought a grey Parker 51 at a local antique store.
It doesn't have a cap and the diaphragm has definitely dried out, but, it's got a two-tone clutch ring, which is nice.

Now... to the odd part...

It says:

PARKER "51"
MADE IN U.S.A.

BUT where the date code should be it says "J7"

What in the world is that about??
rroossinck
Is it a "J" or a "T"? A "T7" date code would indicate that it was manufactured in Toronto (possibly using parts from the States).

If you can get a better look at the inscription, let us know. My guess is that it's a "T". If it's a "J",then it makes for an
interesting anomaly.

okay, after looking again under a magnifying glass and extremely bright light,
it seems to be a "T7" with a minor scratch trailing away from the "T"

To the naked eye, it really looks like J7, but under greater scrutiny,
the "T7" is imprinted much more deeply than the surface scratch.

You were both right and thanks VERY much for helping me so quickly!
I'm sorry I don't have a real rarity for both your sakes, in terms of a new amazing find,
but I'm glad I know what I really have now and that's important.

Not a problem. Now if you had the rare "not-so-many-made" Coronet version,my ears would definitely perk up..... biggrin.gif
