Full Version: Interesting finding about the Edson nib

Saturday last week we had our monthly pen meeting.
I brought few pens with me among them my Edson to let my pen tech give it a look.
I love my Edson but always find it a bit of a dry writer. My pen tech last time playd with it for a sec or two but it wasnt it and I thought I will let him take the pen with him so he can twick it to my liking.
Then a friend that was sitting next to me had her Edson with her and I asked to try it.
Her Edson has a M nib (mine is a F nib).
Well I put the nib on paper and it had the same funny feeling of being a bit dry.
Another friend had his Edson this time with a B nib and guess what it had the same feeling. My pen tech told me this is the nature of this nib, they write great and not dry writers but they make you feel as they are.I need to add this is not a problem to me as you can hardly feel this but I am a perfectionist in regards to my pens.
Well this is a load off and now I can use my Edson knowing its how the pen was designed to feel.

If you own or tried and Edson do you agree with my feeling (how the nib feels on paper) ?

My problem with the Edson is that the nib doesn't come to a sharp enough point. Being a lefty, the nib blocks my view of what I am writing, so I have the sensation of lack of control.

Funny, I have the same feeling about my Carene nib. It writes fine, but feels dry.

Me too - my Carene deluxe prussian blue writes feen but feels....a little un-nerving for some reason, like it's not quite a ready as I want it to be. You pull it out to sign something and aren't 100% sure it's going to deliver. I love the shapes of my Carene nib but I'm going to buy a Visconti as they seem to have a good reputation for a wet feed....any recommendations? Wall Street / Van Goch Maxi or Midi gold nib are the obvious ones but I'm wondering what you think.... Budget flexible $150-300 and prepared to wait on ebay or FPN for a bargain.
