Full Version: Super Handwriting examples
The Fountain Pen Network > Creative Expressions > Penmanship

As a newcomer to fountain pens, I've just spent a fruitless year trying to find fountain pen inks to match the density of my gouache with dip nibs headsmack.gif

It's finally dawned on me (I'm not very quick on the uptake) that the shading produced with fountain pen inks is a thing of beauty and not to be avoided. For this I have to thank the Ink Reviews forum with its many examples of beautiful inks and their application.

Also, I've discovered that this is where most of the super handwritten examples are hidden.
I've taken the liberty of printing out some for inspiration, and am posting this topic on the Penmanship forum as it may point newbies, looking for good handwriting examples, in the right direction.

On the subject of good handwriting, isn't Thomas J Mullane Jnr's signature at the bottom of his "OldGriz" posts, something else?
I know that to an extent, our signatures are determined by our given names, but I think that this is truly outstanding with its balance, flow and confident execution - a mini work of art!

You are right, I can think of many FPN members -- many who haven't posted in awhile, though -- with gorgeous handwriting. Some of their writing sneaks into the ink and pen topics as well.

I don't think I'd have enjoyed my pen collectoring half as much without the examples and resources to be found here. Inspiration has caused my once-illegible scrawl to mature into a quite respectable casual style, and I'm beginning to be quite proud of my Copperplate.

I often spend downtime browsing old ink reviews and looking at handwriting for 'real-life' examples, and prefer comparing that to mine rather than an out-of-the-book exemplar.

You really could have written "look at my posts" though...

I can testify your copperplate is lovely. :-)

Hope you got my PM, btw. Thank you so much!
